학생·교직Faculty, Staff, Students, and Local Organizations Unite to Support Vulnerable Groups in Winter
Sangji University has conducted a sharing activity to support vulnerable groups during the winter season, rooted in its strong connection with the local community. The university carried out a Briquette Sharing Volunteer Activity in the Usan-dong area, involving both campus members and local agencies, to practice region-based social contribution.
The volunteer effort saw participation from major university units, including the Social Service Corps, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Student Council, the Labor Union, and the Oriental Medicine Hospital. Faculty, staff, and students were joined by officials from the Usan-dong Urban Regeneration Support Center and the Wonju City Support Center for Children’s Social Welfare Food Service Management, making it a collaborative effort between the university and local organizations. In total, approximately 70 people participated in the event.
2,000 Briquettes Delivered Directly to 10 Households in Need
The volunteers personally delivered a total of 2,000 briquettes to 10 low-income and vulnerable households in the Usan-dong area. By choosing direct on-site delivery rather than simple donation, the activity focused on alleviating the burden of heating costs during winter and practicing solidarity with the local community.
Key university officials from the Office of Student Affairs, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, and the Student Council also joined the front lines. This activity was particularly meaningful as it expanded beyond student-centered volunteering into a university-wide organizational social contribution effort.
Strengthening the Role of the University as a Hub for Regional Growth
Sangji University plans to expand its community service programs in connection with the local community, moving beyond one-time events. The university’s vision is to strengthen its role as an institution that grows alongside the region through a coexistence model that links the university’s human and organizational resources to solving local issues.
