Proving Academic Competitiveness through Clinical and Basic Research Achievements in Myopia Management, OK Lenses, and Corneal Analysis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students from the Department of Optometry at Dongshin University (DSU)<\/strong> demonstrated their exceptional research capabilities in the field of visual science by winning multiple Best Paper Awards<\/strong> at the 2025 Winter Conference of the Korean Academy of Sensory Science (KASS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference was held under the theme “Clinical Applications of Visual Perception and Visual Function Training, and Strategies for Inhibiting Myopia Progression.”<\/em> It brought together over 150 researchers, clinical experts, and industry officials to share the latest research trends and clinical application cases. At this event, seven students from Dongshin University\u2019s graduate and undergraduate programs received Best Paper Awards, showcasing the university’s research competitiveness across all academic levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Wang Hui (Ph.D. Program):<\/strong> Gained significant attention for the study, “Analysis of Therapeutic Effects and Inflammation Control Mechanisms when Using 0.01% Atropine and Orthokeratology (OK) Lenses in Combination for Adolescent Myopia Management.”<\/em> This study was praised for providing a solid clinical basis for combined myopia suppression strategies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Chen Yujiao (Ph.D. Program):<\/strong> Conducted a study titled “Analysis of Age and Gender Refractive Development Changes During the Corneal Shape Recovery Period After Discontinuing OK Lenses.”<\/em> This research identified the scientific characteristics of corneal and refractive changes occurring after stopping lens wear, providing crucial insights for clinical management strategies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Yang Na-rae (4th Year Undergraduate):<\/strong> Was the only undergraduate to receive a Best Paper Award. In collaboration with Gwangju Central Yoon Gil-jung Eye Clinic, she analyzed the morphological characteristics of corneal endothelial cells<\/strong>. Her work was recognized for its high level of analytical completeness and research execution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Global and Clinical Excellence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Other graduate students, including Kim Ui-hyeon, Lim Chan-woo, Zhao Qiuyi, and Zhou Ying<\/strong>, also joined the list of awardees, further demonstrating the breadth and sustainability of DSU\u2019s graduate research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Chun In-cheol<\/strong>, President of the Korean Academy of Sensory Science, commented that the conference was a meaningful platform for experts to explore effective eye health management through shared research and clinical experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
